Main Library Temporary Closure Information:

The Main Library will be temporarily closed from December 5 through December 18, 2016

Main Library will temporarily close for replacement of the building’s original (circa 1958) main electrical circuit. During this time, most of the building’s lights, computers/telephones, airflow system, etc. will be inoperable so the building will be closed to the public between December 5 and December 18.

While the Main Library is closed, all items hold items will be available for pickup at the Keller Library & Community Center.

The nearest New Orleans Public Library locations are:
- Central City Library: 2405 Jackson Avenue – 1.6 miles away Hours: Monday - Thursday 10a-7p, Friday 11a-4p, Saturday & Sunday Closed
- Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center: 4300 S. Broad Avenue – 2.7 miles away Hours: Monday-Thursday 10a-8p, Friday & Saturday 10a-5p, Sunday Closed
- Milton H. Latter Memorial Library: 5120 St. Charles Avenue - 3.6 miles away Hours: Monday – Thursday 10a-8p, Friday & Saturday 10a-5p, Sunday 1p-5p

Nix Renovation Information:

The Nix Library is temporarily closed for renovations.

A few of the items included in the renovation include:
• Painting
• Plaster repair
• New lighting
• Landscaping
• New staff area
• Floor replacement
• Plumbing and electrical

Book holds: Nix is no longer listed as a location for holds, but will be accepting items already scheduled for hold through the October 15 close date. Any holds still on Nix's hold shelf on October 15 will be moved to Latter Library.

Returning books: The book drop mailbox will not be available during Nix's renovation. Books may be returned to any library location.

• Keller Library (Broadmoor) – 1.9 miles
• Latter Library (Uptown) – 2.5 miles
• Children’s Resource Center Library – 3.4 miles
• Central City Library (Central City) – 3.4 miles

Re-opening: Renovation work will occur through the end of the year, with a re-opening scheduled for early Spring 2017. An official opening date will be announced as soon as possible.
