BUSINESS RESOURCES
- geauxBIZ, the one-stop site for launching a new business in the state of Louisiana from the Office of the Lousiana Secretary of State.
CONSUMER RESOURCES
- Conduct a free multi-state search of unclaimed property from the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators.
DEMOGRAPHICS RESOURCES
American FactFinder provides access to data about the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas. The data in American FactFinder comes from several censuses and surveys.
CenStats provides census maps, building permit statistics, county business patterns, and other databases from the Census Bureau.
The Data Center provides high demand briefs covering demographic shifts across the New Orleans metro, poverty in Southeast Louisiana, our growing Latino population, and the rise of single-person households.
EDUCATION RESOURCES
Agenda for Children provides parents and caretakers with a free searchable database of childcare options determined by zip code. For information about childcare, pre-k, or other early childhood development resources, call Agenda for Children at 1-800-486-1712.
The Orleans Parish School Board provides students and families with the opportunity to choose a school that suits their interests and needs. The annual New Orleans Public School Enrollment Process, OneApp, offers students the opportunity to easily apply to all participating schools using one application. OneApp allows families to apply to up to 8 participating schools of their choice, anywhere across the city. The application is open to families who are new to New Orleans, new to public school, or who would like to apply to transfer for the upcoming school year. OneApp has adapted over time to include a diverse portfolio of schools with various programming models, governance structures, and admissions criteria.

GRANTS AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION RESOURCES
The Foundation Center provides the Foundation Directory Online which is a thorough database, comprising more than 140,000 grantmakers, that is updated weekly as well as the Foundation Grants to Individuals database, a research tool for finding foundations that provide financial support for individual grantseekers. These resources can only be accessed from within the Main Library.
grantspace.org provides easy-to-use, self-service tools and resources to help nonprofits worldwide become more viable.
The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance provides a full listing of all Federal programs available to State and local governments.
grants.gov provides information for finding and applying for US federal grants.
GuideStar is the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations.
HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES RESOURCES
Via Link 211: Community Resource Directory is published annually by VIA LINK (United Way). It is a comprehensive listing of health and social services for Greater New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana serving Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes. This information is also available by calling 211.
The New Orleans Community Resource Guide is published by the Common Ground Health Clinic. This directory provides public access to community services that are free or low-cost. Most listings are for locations in Orleans or Jefferson parishes.
Unity New Orleans has compiled a Directory of Resources for People Who Are Homeless or at Risk in the Greater New Orleans Area.
MedlinePlus is is the National Institutes of Health's Web site for patients and their families and friends. Produced by the National Library of Medicine, the world’s largest medical library, it provides information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in easy to understand language. MedlinePlus offers reliable, up-to-date health information, anytime, anywhere, for free.
JOBS & EMPLOYMENT RESOURCES
The Occupation Outlook Handbook provides career information on duties, education and training, pay, and outlook for hundreds of occupations.
All State of Louisiana employment applications must be submitted online through the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service.
LEGAL RESOURCES
lawhelp.org is a directory of free legal aid programs, information, and forms.
The mission of the Law Library of Louisiana is to meet the legal information needs of Louisiana’s judiciary, state government agencies, the Bar, and the general public by providing access to legal and related materials, research assistance, and instruction in the use of legal information.
The American Bar Association's LA.FreeLegalAnswers.org is for those who need legal information but cannot afford to hire an attorney. Legal questions submitted to the sit will be reviewed and answered by a Louisiana State Bar Association-licensed attorney. There is no cost to post a question or to receive an answer on the site. This sit only allows civil legal questions - no criminal legal questions will be answered by volunteer attorneys.
