Your New Orleans Public Library card gives you access to almost a million books, e-books, and DVDs; plus streaming music, movies, and TV; and cool extras like free museum passes and seed libraries.

Who can sign up online?

If you live in Orleans Parish and you’re 18 or older, fill out the form below to sign up for a free, digital Library card. We’ll run a quick 3rd-party verification, and if your application is accepted, you’ll receive your Library card in just a few minutes. Keep an eye on your inbox!

Do I need to go to the Library to pick up a physical card?

With a digital card, you no longer have to visit the Library in person (although we’d love to see you!). Your digital card is a Library barcode number and a PIN. You can add your digital card to the NOLA Library App to get a scannable barcode to check out physical books and DVDs at our self-service kiosks. If you’d like an old-school, physical Library card, visit any of our Library locations. Please note: getting a physical card will change your barcode.

What if my application isn’t verified?

If your application isn’t verified, if you’re under 18, if you’re applying for a reciprocal card from Jefferson or St. Bernard Parishes, or if you just want to say hi, stop by any of our Library locations to apply for a card in person.
