Free Period Supplies

Pick up a free month’s supply of period products at Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Fill out a card and return it to the information desk, then bring home your free period supply kit. Monthly kits are provided by the Junior League of New Orleans.  

Individual period supplies are also available at all Library locations as a courtesy. If you need one, take one.

70% of teen girls have missed class due to something period-related. 

Period products are not covered by food stamps or federally funded health programs like WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).  

In 2021, Nearly 1 in 4 students struggled to afford period products in the United States, and 51% of students wore period products longer than recommended. 

Access to period products affects everyone who menstruates, regardless of socioeconomic status. American Libraries Magazine writes, “The richest woman on the planet has gone to the bathroom [on some occasion] and not had access to a period product.”
