Free Snacks

The Library offers free snacks for youth age 18 and under, courtesy of Second Harvest Food Bank. Snacks are available Monday – Thursday, 4pm – 5pm, at Mid-City Library, Central City Library, and Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center.

Volunteer At The Library

The Library has opportunities for teens in grades 8 – 12 to volunteer at Algiers Regional, Milton H. Latter, and Mid-City libraries. Please fill out the volunteer application below and have a parent/guardian complete the consent section.

Teen Volunteer Day: Serve your community, be creative, socialize, and earn service-learning hours. Time commitment is 2 hours a month.

Reading Buddies x Wee Write: Volunteer as a Big Reading Buddy to help early readers in grades K – 2 become more independent readers. Light dinner will be served. (Seasonal availability.)

Math Workouts for Kids: Volunteer as a Big Math Buddy to help students in grades 3 – 6 improve their math skills. Light dinner will be served. (Seasonal availability.)

Teen Tech Center

The Teen Tech Center is an interest-based learning environment for teens age 13 – 18 to experiment and master new technologies with help from their peers and adult mentors. The center is equipped with technology and multimedia tools that can be used for music and video production, interactive programming, graphic design, and more.
