New Orleans Public Library Services Update: Text No Longer Notification Option

To our Library community:

This week, Library staff learned that our catalog system was having issues connecting with phone service providers’ systems to send out text notifications about materials. This issue is due to changes from services providers, including AT&T and Sprint.

As a result, mass text notifications are no longer an option. Though some of you may receive occasional texts about materials from the Library, the system is no longer reliable for all cardholders. We are looking into other platforms.

There are other ways to get notified of materials holds, pick-ups, and expirations. You may get notifications by email or by automated phone call. To update this setting, you may call or visit any Library location or follow the instructions below.

  1. Log into your Library account.
  2. At the top right-hand corner, click on your name.
  3. Find “My Bookshelf.”
  4. Under “My Bookshelf,” locate and click “Profile.”
  5. Click “Edit Profile.”
  6. Scroll down to “Notification Preference.”
  7. Select “Email” to receive email notifications or “Phone” to receive automated phone calls.

Note: If you have multiple phone numbers, select the phone number that you want calls to go to.

If you have any questions about this process, please call or visit any location or Ask a Librarian.
