U.S. Senate

Following their primary elections in June, Jamie Davis and Julia Letlow are running in the general election for Louisiana’s next U.S. Senator. All Louisiana voters will have this race on their ballots.

U.S. House of Representatives

Louisiana is divided into six congressional districts. Each district elects a member for the U.S. House of Representatives. You can find your House candidates listed on Geaux Vote three weeks ahead of the election.

The U.S. House election is an open election or “jungle primary.” If a candidate gets over 50% of the vote, that candidate is the winner. If no candidate gets over 50% of the vote, there will be a run-off election in December.

Louisiana State Constitutional Amendments

As explained by the Power Coalition, “A constitutional amendment changes Louisiana’s Constitution, which is the state’s highest legal document. Amendments
are placed on the ballot by the Legislature (Louisiana voters cannot propose amendments themselves). If a majority of voters approve an amendment, it becomes part of the Constitution. If a majority vote against it, the Constitution stays the same.”
