Former Library Poetry Contest Winner Receives MacArthur Genius Grant

Jericho Brown was an undergrad student at Dillard University when he won second place in the New Orleans Public Library’s first city-wide poetry contest in the mid-1990s. Last week (Oct. 2), Brown added another prestigious accolade to his resume when he was selected as 2024 MacArthur Fellow.

Teen Voices: Hannah on Volunteering at the Library

Hannah Nides is a musician, avid movie watcher, and Library-lover. Last fall, the 17-year-old started volunteering with the Library’s Youth Programming Department, where she helped develop new procedures, facilitated programs, and fulfilled a life-long dream of working in a library.
